Before embarking on a programming project for a Web site, you should examine the server capabilities and verify that they are suited to your needs. Some of you may wish to install and configure your own PHP Web server, which gives you the ability to manage it the way you like. When using a server managed by someone else, you should first find what information is available to you from the Web provider.
For php.scripts.psu.edu, you may find information provided on
the server's homepage, http://php.scripts.psu.edu/.
In addition, most PHP providers have enabled the
phpinfo(); function:
