Residence Life

The Residence Life staff strives to provide and maintain a living environment that will enhance the personal, physical, educational and social development of campus residents. Training, cooperation, and collaboration with members of the campus community help the Residence Life staff meet the needs of campus residents while serving as resource personnel and as programmers of events and activities.

Residence Life at Penn State Harrisburg encompasses more than just the residential facilities. Included in the concept is a human services component - the personal advice and guidance, programs and special services designed to enhance the out-of-classroom experience. The Residence Life staff responsible for this human service component - Assistant Director, Assistant Coordinator, Staff Assistant, and Community Assistants (CA) - all are knowledgeable of campus services and resources and are available to assist residents in meeting their educational goals.

The Assistant Director and Assistant Coordinator reside on campus and are available to provide assistance whenever the need arises. Community Assistants are student staff appointed by the Office of Residence Life as its representatives in the residential community and are assigned to specific areas of the community to assure that residents receive personal attention. The CAs are trained in many areas to increase their skills in the various roles that they fulfill, including serving as builders of community, helpers, advisers, sources of information and referral, sources of emergency assistance, and programmers of events and activities.
