Penn State Harrisburg 2008 Spring Athletic Award Winners

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Penn State Harrisburg recognized the contributions and accomplishments of the spring student-athletes on 6 varsity teams for 2008 at the bi-annual Athletics Banquet April 30th, on campus. Student-Atheltes of the year were awarded to Seth Lewis and Krystal Miranda for their dedication and sportsmanship.

Lady Lion Softball Player Honored by North Eastern Athletic Conference

GANSVOORT, NY - Junior third basemen Krystal Miranda (Bound Brook/Bound Brook, NJ) is the first-ever Penn State Harrisburg softball player to have earned Honorable All-Conference Honors in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Miranda was first in the NEAC with 39 runs batted in and tied for third with 10 doubles in conference play.

Four Nittany Lion Baseball Players Honored by North Eastern Athletic Conference

GANSVOORT, NY - Four men’s baseball players were honored by North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) with All- Conference Selection. Sophomore outfielder Barry Wiestling (Lower Dauphin/Hummelstown, PA) is the first-ever men’s baseball player to have earned North Eastern Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference honors for Penn State Harrisburg, while junior third basemen Garret Piper (Big Spring/Carlisle, PA) is the first-ever men’s baseball player to have earned North Eastern Athletic Conference Second Team All-Conference honors for Penn State Harrisburg. Finally, junior catcher Matt Umberger (Lower Dauphin/Hummelstown, PA) and junior outfielder Austin Kulp (Big Spring/Newville, PA) are the first-ever men’s baseball players to have earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors for Penn State Harrisburg.
