Lady Lions Take Two in Conference Play

MIDDLETOWN, PA - The Penn State Harrisburg women´s volleyball team snatched two impressive victories over North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponents, SUNY Cobleskill and Saint Elizabeth, in Saturday´s tri-match at the Capital Union Building at Penn State Harrisburg.

In the first match the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill were able to fend off the Eagles of Saint Elizabeth, 25-9, 25-19, 24-26, 25-11.

The Lady Lions then took the stage against the Tigers winning a tough match, 25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20. Freshman Amanda Duda (Centerville, VA/Westfield) led the way with 12 kills as well as recording 12 digs in the Lady Lions first conference win on the season. Junior Finesse Hempfing (Hanover, PA/Hanover) added seven kills of her own with a .278 hitting percentage. Senior Amanda Wade (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) had a match-high 29 assists and 19 digs.

The blue and white were able to beat the Eagles in remarkable fashion, 25-12, 25-9, 25-12. Freshman Michelle Pellechia (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) led Penn State Harrisburg with eight kills and a .438 hitting percentage.

The Lady Lions improve to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Penn State Harrisburg is set to play Rosemount College Tuesday, September 22 at 7:00 P.M.
