Lady Lions Split Tri-Match

Women's Volleyball

MIDDLETOWN, PA - The Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball team split two five game matches on Saturday at the Capital Union Building.

The Lady Lions dropped their opening match to Rutgers-Camden by the scores of 26-24, 15-25, 25-27, 25-17 and 15-9. Freshman Amanda Duda (Centerville, VA/Westfield) led the team with 14 kills while senior setter Amanda Wade (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) tallied 32 set assists. Junior Melissa Reese (Hershey, PA/Lower Dauphin) was able to collect four kills with five solo blocks and one block assist in the losing effort.

In the second match, Harrisburg squared off against Mt. Aloysius College where the blue and white were able to squeeze out the five game victory powered by Duda´s 15 kills with a solid performance by teammate Michelle Pellechia (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) adding seven kills of her own. Reese turned out another impressive defensive performance with five solo blocks and two block assists. Wade tallied 37 set assists. The match scores were 31-29, 25-22, 20-25, 13-25 and 15-13.

With this victory the Lady Lions improve to 11-8 overall breaking the Penn State Harrisburg women´s volleyball team record for most wins in a season.

The Lady Lions travel to face off against the College of Notre Dame on Tuesday, October 6, at 7:00 P.M.
