
MIDDLETOWN, PA - Penn State Harrisburg men´s basketball team passes by the visiting Chargers of Lancaster Bible College, 98-84. With this win, the Nittany Lions improve to 5-8 overall with the Chargers falling to 6-8 on the season.
The Nittany Lions came out shooting hot, going on a 7-1 run in the game´s first four minutes. The Chargers were able to get within two coming off a Kevin Keltner jumper with 13:45 remaining in the first half. Although the Chargers were able to stop the Lions early, the blue and white would not be denied pouring in the points and getting their lead up to as much as 21 in the first half. Sophomore Shane Woodman (Donegal/Mt. Joy, PA) and freshman Kenton Alston (Steelton-Highspire/Steelton, PA) lead the way scoring 27 of their teams 47 points in the first half. Woodman and Alston shot a combined 11-for-22 from the field with Woodman going 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
The halftime break would not slow down the Nittany Lions with the blue and white shooting 52.8 percent from the field and scoring a season high 51 points in the second half. The Lions unselfish play led to a school tying 22 assists in the 98-84 victory.
Penn State Harrisburg was able to get four out of their five starters in double digits led by Alston with a career high 30 points. Alston shot 14-for-26 from the field with 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Cole McGuire (Susquenita/Duncannon, PA) tailed 18 points, four rebounds and a school record 10 assists. Brian Ongeri (Hershey/Hershey, PA) chipped in with 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Woodman finished with 17 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Lancaster Bible College was led by Billy Harrison with 22 points, four rebounds. Keltner finished with 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals. Carl Edwards chipped in with 15 points and eight rebounds. Jake Clemenson was able to come off the bench and score 10 points with six rebounds. The blue and white will travel Friday night to face off against new NEAC opponent, SUNY Cobleskill.
