What is the Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Society?
The Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Society is a chartered organization of the
Penn State Alumni Association. To become a
member, you must be a Penn State Harrisburg alumnus and a member of the Penn State
Alumni Association. There are no additional dues charged beyond the membership to the
Alumni Association.
The mission of the Alumni Society is to support the University and College by:
- Promoting the College in the community
- Fostering alumni, student, and faculty participation, interest and support
in College activities and events.
The Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Society is led by a
Board of Directors which includes 15 elected alumni members and 12 ex-officio
members. Ex-officio members include two student representatives, the past president
of the board, the chancellor, the director of development, the alumni coordinator, a
representative from the Harrisburg Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, and
five honorary alumni directors.
The Board of Directors meets three times a year. The meetings are open to all
members of the Alumni Society. Information on the Society and upcoming events appear
in Currents magazine. The Alumni Society sends no additional publication to members.

How can the Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Society
benefit me?
As an alumnus, this organization gives you the opportunity to share your time and
talents with the College through a variety of volunteer opportunities. Alumni are
encouraged to volunteer to serve as members of Alumni
Society committees and/or as alumni mentors within the
Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Mentor Program. In
addition, the Alumni Society sponsors an annual fall
Awards Program. Alumni are encouraged to nominate other alumni for the Penn State
Harrisburg Alumni Achievement and People to Watch Awards. Alumni can also become
involved by volunteering for such events as the Penn State Harrisburg Fall Festival
and the winter and spring commencement ceremonies.
How Do I Become a Member?
It's easy! If you are a member of the Penn State Alumni Association, you are
already a member of the Penn State Harrisburg Alumni Society.
