General Registration Instructions
Follow the schedule and instructions outlined below for your student status. REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL TUITION AND FEES ARE PAID. Payment may be made by cash, money order, or personal check.
When to Register
Spring 2010
- Graduate and undergraduate students with >= 92 credits: Thursday, October 8, 2009
- Undergraduates with >= 75 credits: Thursday, October 15, 2009
- Undergraduates with >= 60 credits: Thursday, October 22, 2009
- Undergraduates with >= 50 credits: Thursday, October 29, 2009
- Undergraduates with >= 40 credits: Thursday, November 5, 2009
- Undergraduates with >= 28 credits: Thursday, November 12, 2009
- Undergraduates with >= 0 credits: Tuesday, November 17, 2009
- Non-degree students (graduate and undergraduate): Tuesday, December 1, 2009
Registration Instructions for Degree Students
- Meet with your adviser and plan your course schedule. New Penn State students must arrange to obtain a University ID
card. Photo IDs will be taken in E-122, Olmsted Building, during regular office hours. An ID card is required for
library privileges.
- Internet registration is available using eLion. Login with your user ID and
password and proceed to registration.
- Undergraduate students who interrupted continuous degree enrollment must complete a Re-enrollment Request Form prior to
registration. The following options are available:
- Print a Re-enrollment Request Form
and mail it to Penn State Harrisburg, Academic Records Office, 777 W. Harrisburg Pike, Middletown, PA 17057 or
send as an email attachment to hbgregistrar@psu.edu
- OR Call the Academic Records Office at (717) 948-6020 to request a form.
- If you are a graduate student and you missed two consecutive semesters, you must be approved to
Resume Study through the office of your major prior
to registration. If you missed just one semester, please contact Enrollment Services at (717) 948-6020.
Registration Instructions for Non-degree Students
New Non-degree Graduate
- New Nondegree Graduate students must complete a Friends of
Penn State Account prior to registration.
- After the Friends of Penn State Account has been
established, use your user ID and password to log into the
Graduate School On-Line Application.
Once you are logged in, follow the instructions for Non-Degree Applicants. Allow 24 hours for the application to
be processed.
- After 24 hours, you may register on eLion using your Friends of Penn State
Account user ID and password created in Step 1.
New Non-degree Undergraduate
- New Nondegree Undergraduate students must complete a Nondegree Application Form prior to registration. The following
options are available:
- After the Undergraduate Nondegree Application has been processed, you may create a
Friends of Penn State Account and register online using
eLion.
Returning Non-degree (Undergraduate or Graduate)
If you were enrolled last semester, you may register online using eLion.
Registration Instructions for Continuing Education Courses
The deadline for registration for most courses is one week prior to the starting date. Payment may be made by check, money
order, or VISA or Mastercard (Continuing Education Courses only). Registration must be accompanied by payment in order
to be processed. The following options are available:
- Fax registration form with credit card information or billing authorization to (717) 948-6481.
- Mail registration form and payment for Continuing Education courses to:
Bursar, Penn State Harrisburg
777 West Harrisburg Pike
Middletown, PA 17057-4898
- Walk in and register at the Enrollment Services/Academic Records Office, Swatara Building, then pay tuition at the
Bursar's Office, Swatara Building.
How do I Register on the Internet?
Consult with your adviser to discuss course selection before registering.
A Penn State Account (user ID and password) is necessary to use Internet registration. If you do not have an Access Account,
one may be obtained through the Computer Center, W305 Olmsted Building. A photo ID is required.
Internet registration is available using eLion. Login as a Student and proceed to
registration. Part-time students should check part-time block to change billing and financial aid status if scheduling less
than 12 credits. Verify your registration by sending a copy of your schedule to your e-mail address.
Part-Time Students:
To change billing and financial aid status for a total schedule of less than 12 credits, click on box: "I Will Be A Part
Time Student" and submit.
Note: REGISTRATION IS NOT COMPLETE UNTIL THE BURSAR ACCEPTS PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS.
Register in Person
Some students may require special handling for registration. Manual registration may be done in the Enrollment
Services/Academic Records Office, Swatara Building.
PART-TIME STUDENTS: To change billing and financial aid status for a total schedule of less than 12 credits, follow other
automated registration instructions or contact Financial Aid or the Bursar.

Penn State Harrisburg’s Learning Center peer tutor training program has earned a five-year recertification from the College Reading and Learning Association. With this certification, Penn State Harrisburg remains one of only seven certified colleges in the capital region.
The certification provides recognition and positive reinforcement for the tutors’ successful work and sets a standard of skills and training for tutors.
State Senator Patricia H. Vance will deliver the keynote address when Penn State Harrisburg confers more than 500 undergraduate and graduate degrees during fall commencement ceremonies Saturday, December 19.
The ceremonies for students who have earned associate, bachelor’s master’s, and doctoral degrees will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Giant Center, Hershey.
Penn State Harrisburg faculty member and Benjamin Franklin scholar George Boudreau terms his recent discovery of a long-lost poem written in 1732 as “one of the greatest finds of my career.”
An associate professor of humanities and history, Boudreau’s research interests focus on Franklin and his philosophical organization called the Junto and the role it played in the cultural transformation of Philadelphia in the 1700s. Boudreau recently related his research findings during a Gallery Lounge presentation hosted by the offices of Academic Affairs and Research and Graduate Studies.
