How to Apply for Financial Aid

To apply for financial aid at Penn State Harrisburg, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA) and be enrolled full time (12 credits or more) or half time (6 - 11 credits) in a degree program.

The FAFSA serves as the single application for all types of student financial aid: federal, state, and Penn State.

Students applying for academic scholarships must complete a separate application available online, by clicking here .The online form is our preferred method of application. You can download the traditional paper copy by clicking here. Call 717-948-6307 or email. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required to apply for scholarships.

Filing the FAFSA

Complete the FAFSA on the web at www.fafsa.gov. Penn State's federal school code is 003329. If this is your first time filing you will need to request a Personal Identificaton Number (PIN) at www.pin.ed.gov. Both student and parent must apply for this number. Please write your pin number down for future reference. We recommend that the 2010-2011 FAFSA be submitted by February 15, 2010 for maximum consideration for all financial aid programs at Penn State. May 1st is the deadline for PA residents to be considered for the state grant. Note: The 2009 federal income tax information for you and your parent(s) or spouse, if applicable, is required.

The FAFSA serves as the single application for all types id student financial aid--federal, state, and Penn State programs. Undergraduate and graduate students must be enrolled at least half time (6 credits) in a degree seeking program to recieve financial aid.

Student wishing to apply for a Stafford Student Loan and/or Work Study must answer question #31 as both.

Academic Progress Regarding Financial Aid

Retaining student financial aid requires successfully completing 24 credits every two semesters and maintaining a typically, 2.0 cumulative GPA. Graduate students are also required to maintain academic progress. Graduate students are full-time with 9 credits and half-time with 6 credits each semester.

The Financial Aid Office is located in the Swatara Building. Our office hours are Monday and Tuesday 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Wednesday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
