Carnation give-away for first 300 women for International Women’s Day
Wednesday, March 4, noon-2:00 p.m., Olmsted Lobby
The birth of International Women’s Day was established to honor the women's rights movement and to assist in achieving universal suffrage for women. International Women's Day has been observed since the early 1900's and has grown to become a global day of recognition and celebration across developed and developing countries alike. Presentation on Aging
Wednesday, March 18, noon-1 p.m., E-265 Olmsted
Assistant Director of Wellness Programs and Services Marylou Martz will discuss what we can look forward to or not look forward to as we age. She will look at the natural processes of aging and how we can help ourselves ease into that transition with nutrition and exercise. Light snacks will be provided. Annual Boobies Ball
Friday, March 20, 8 p.m.-midnight, Student Center, CUB
The Annual Boobies Ball is a fundraising event for Breast Cancer Awareness. All proceeds from the event support the Feel Your Boobies Foundation. Games, prizes, and raffles are featured throughout the event. Sponsored by the Lion Ambassadors
Lecture by Professor of Humanities and English Patricia Johnson
Monday, March 23, noon-1 p.m. E-265 Olmsted
Dr. Johnson will lead us in a discussion of The Gentle Subversive: Rachel Carson, Silent Spring, and the Rise of the Environmental Movement by Mark Hamilton Lytle. Rachel Carson (1907-1964), a biologist and environmentalist, is best known for her publication of Silent Spring (1962) in which she exposed the devastating effects of DDT and other pesticides. This well-acclaimed biography touches on Carson's familial burden, overcoming gender prejudice in her male-dominated field, and her fight with recurring breast cancer.
