The Rev. Dr. Millicent Hunter knows personally that success is built many times in small steps.

In 1992, she started The Baptist Worship Center in a row house in West Philadelphia with just five members. That ministry has now grown to a congregation of more than 4,000 and Hunter has gone on to become an award-winning author and world-wide religious leader.

Hunter brings her global perspective to the Sheraton Harrisburg Hershey Hotel March 11 at 6:30 p.m. Her presentation is free and open to the public and is an installment in Penn State Harrisburg’s year-long Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Lecture Series and is being held in partnership with Kingdom Embassy. For information, phone 717-948-6180.

Hosted by the college’s Diversity and Educational Equity Committee, the series is designed to support Penn State Harrisburg’s commitment to foster community dialog on issues while providing a public forum for the exchange of diverse perspectives.

Director of Student Affairs Felicia Brown-Haywood comments on the collaboration by stating, “Programs such as this augment our learning, creating a continuous educational exchange between the classroom and the community. Our community partners have enabled us to broaden our offerings and reach out to the public with our programming.”

Dr. Hunter is now the presiding bishop of the 71-church Worship Center Worldwide Fellowship in the United States and South Africa. An award-winning author, her first book entitled Don’t Die in the Winter…Your Season Is Coming was a bestseller. She has been featured in Gospel Today magazine as one of America’s top 10 global pacesetting pastors and in Charisma and Ebony as a leading pastor for world evangelism.

A former dean of the Sanctuary Bible Institute and an adjunct faculty member at a number of colleges and universities, Hunter also is the founder of the Excell Christian Academy, and The Worship Center Bible Training Institute in the U.S. and South Africa.  A sought-after revivalist and conference speaker throughout the world, she has traveled throughout India, Thailand, Japan, Bermuda, Africa, and Europe.
