Evening students invited to ‘Web, Sizzle, Roll’

February 17, 2009

“Web, Sizzle, and Roll” is headed to Penn State Harrisburg March 24, 25, and 26.

Aimed at enabling evening students an opportunity to connect with each other and with the college’s Office of Career Services while obtaining an introduction to relevant career information, the events will be from 5 to 6 p.m. in the main lobby of Olmsted Building.

Hosted by Alpha Sigma Lambda, the adult student honor society, the “Web, Sizzle, and Roll” is the first recipient of a new initiative developed by the college Alumni Society to fund worthy club events. “We are fortunate to have an extremely active and dedicated Alumni Society here at Penn State Harrisburg,” says Assistant Director of Alumni Relations Laurie Dobrosky. “The hard-working members are committed to being stewards of Penn State Harrisburg’s mission and to providing and funding an array of educational opportunities for our students.”

Alpha Sigma Lambda adviser Charlotte Spector explains, “For the three sessions, ASL members will provide a snack of hot rice and egg rolls to students, while Career Services staff showcase web sites, chat with students, provide career handouts, and answer questions.”

She continues, “A laptop computer will be used on a rolling cart to demonstrate the Penn State Harrisburg Career Services web site and other internet career services available to all students. Career Services will provide extra “sizzle” with its “Hot Web Sites” handout and other information useful to adult students and alumni.”
