Mark Singel
Mark S. Singel is a Managing Director of Public Affairs Management LLC and directs the company's Harrisburg office. From 1987 through 1995, Mark was the Lieutenant Governor and Acting Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. His legislative efforts while in office include many initiatives to improve the quality of life and business climate in Pennsylvania, including reducing state and local taxes; implementing a statewide 911 emergency telephone system; creating 10,000 new jobs in recycling and environmental technology; saving over 23,000 Pennsylvania homes through the original mortgage assistance bill; and establishing PennFree, one of the nation's most comprehensive drug prevention, treatment and enforcement programs.
As acting governor, Mark signed landmark legislation that reformed workers' compensation, refinanced the state's park system and created strong incentives for the development of technology. Prior to his term as lieutenant governor, Mark served six years in the Pennsylvania State Senate and was chief-of-staff to two members of the United States Congress. Mark has served as head of the Pennsylvania Energy Office and the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. Governor Rendell named him as Chairman of the Transition Team's Executive Committee. He serves on the Board of Trustees of St. Francis University and the Quaker Investment Trust. Mark is a magna cum laude graduate of The Pennsylvania State University.
