Michael Cassidy
Michael Cassidy has 30 years of service with the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, two of them as an elected Representative from Blair County in 1977-78.
He received a B.A. in Political Science from Penn State University Park and a M.A. in American Studies from Penn State Harrisburg. His research interests include the development of American legislatures and Pennsylvania politics. He has authored or co-authored a number of conference papers on legislative topics and a published article on the legislative modernization movement in the 2003 issue of Commonwealth: A Journal of Political Science. Cassidy has been the moderator of the "Pennsylvania Politics Roundtable" at the Pennsylvania Political Science Association annual meetings since 1997 and has served on the association's executive council since 2001. Beginning with the 2007 volume, Mike is the Managing Editor of Commonwealth: A Journal of Political Science published jointly by the Pennsylvania Political Science Association and the Legislative Office for Research Liaison (LORL).
Mike has taught PL SC 1 "Intro to American National Government" at University Park and PUBPL 409 "The Politics of Legislation" at Harrisburg. He currently teaches the Penn State Harrisburg Semester Internship seminar PUBPL 490 "Public-Private Cooperation in Policymaking." He also as a long history of involvement with the House of Representatives' Bipartisan Management Committee Fellowship Program and Harrisburg Semester as a supervisor, workshop presenter, and mentor.
