Neil Boyd
Dr. Neil Boyd has been a professor in the social sciences program at Penn State since 1990. Neil's primary research interests are in the fields of public management, organization development, human resource management, and community psychology. More recently, Neil has been conducting research in relation to organization and management innovations in Pennsylvania state government. Specifically, this line of research is centered on government reinvention and innovation, total quality management techniques in the public sector, and privatization and technology advancements that increase the effectiveness of public service delivery. Some of Neil's recent publications attempt to bridge the gap between organizational studies and community psychology, promote the logic of organizational democracy, and in general, support the institutionalization of action research methods and organization development practices in both private and public institutions. Finally, Neil continues to study the application of organizational behavior management techniques, and behavioral applications in general, to the organizational issues of personnel selection, work motivation, and performance appraisal.
