School of Business Administration

Welcome to the School of Business Administration

Welcome to our School´s home page. We are a small school with about 450 undergraduates and 300 graduate students. We are part of Penn State, a large, well-known public research university. We have the infrastructure and resources of a large research university with the ambiance of a small college. Our classes are small and are taught by well-trained faculty members.

We are a quality institution with clear vision and purpose. The school is accredited by AACSB – Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. Fewer than 400 of the 1,200 colleges and universities in the United States offering undergraduate or graduate business degrees are accredited by AACSB.

Our students are mostly from within the region and nearby states. They are generally a mix of traditional and nontraditional students. Our students are motivated and work hard to meet faculty expectations and do well after graduation.

We offer a Bachelor of Science degree in five undergraduate majors: Finance, Information Systems, Management, Marketing, and Accounting. An International Business minor can accompany any of our majors and the SBA also offers a Business minor for students completing studies outside our School. Other minors include: IST/Accounting and IST/Finance. Additionally, the SBA administers University-wide four-year baccalaureate degrees in Information Sciences and Technology (IST), and Security and Risk Analysis.

At the graduate level, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) are offered at Penn State Harrisburg. Joint graduate degrees with Penn State´s Dickinson School of Law (MBA/JD and MSIS/JD) and Penn State´s College of Medicine (MBA/PhD and MSIS/PhD) are offered as well.

The resources and the infrastructure of Penn State have permitted us to attract an excellent complement of faculty. The faculties have been trained at some of the best-known graduate schools in the country. They are known nationally and internationally for their research, scholarship and teaching expertise. Numerous faculty members have won awards and recognitions from professional associations. They have designed excellent curricula and continuously upgrade course content and course delivery. The increasing use of technology enhances the learning that takes place in the classroom.

At Penn State Harrisburg, the University completed construction of a $17 million technologically advanced library in 2000. A new student residential complex was completed in August of 2002. Several other investments have been made to improve our facilities. In short, the University values our presence in the proximity of the state capital.

We are proud of the progress the SBA has made over the last few years, while realizing the fact that we can always strive to make things better. Please come and visit us.
