HIST 495, J ST 495 and RL ST 495 are all designed to provide students with the opportunity to work with external organizations and enterprises to acquire work experience relevant to the history major and to establish networks and contacts that may be of use in their future careers. To obtain academic credit for an internship, students are expected to perform the work of the internship and to produce an academic paper derived in whole or in large part from the internship work. Evaluation of the student's performance in will be based on a combination of outside work performance (40%) and academic performance (60%).
This form must be completed and submitted by the site supervisor as the first step toward enrolling. After the department's Undergraduate officer has received this form and verified the information in it, the student should consult an appropriate faculty sponsor regarding the academic work of the course.
After the student submits all approval forms and registers, the department will send an evaluation of job performance notice to the site supervisor. This notice will indicate the deadline by which the site supervisor should submit an evaluation of the student's performance to the department as well as other relevant details.
