The Alumni Award Fund
The Penn State Emergency Medical Services Alumni Interest Group has resolved to create an endowed award to support Penn State students at University Park who serve the University and local community in emergency medical services. For approximately 30 years, Penn State students have served the local emergency medical services system while they attended school. Students have served University Ambulance Service and the Office of Emergency Medical Services as ambulance attendants, Emergency Medical Technicians, paramedics, dispatchers, interns, work study, and instructors. Additionally, students have helped staff ambulances throughout Centre County including Bellefonte EMS, Centre Lifelink EMS (formerly Alpha Community Ambulance Service), Moshannon Valley EMS, Penns Valley EMS, Pleasant Gap Fire Company Ambulance, Port Matilda EMS, and as paramedic assistants with Mount Nittany Medical Center (formerly Centre Community Hospital). Many also serve their hometown ambulance services.
As alumni, we realize the importance of this service learning opportunity in developing professional skills and leadership abilities in students while they serve the community. We invite contributions to this fund to help promote opportunities and provide for recognition awards for Penn State students who volunteer and work for University Health Services Office of Emergency Medical Services.
Our initial goal is to raise $10,000 to endow this award. Please print out and mail in the donor form to make a tax deductible contribution. You can also make contributions on line at the University Development web page. Be sure to indicate University Ambulance Service Alumni Award and allocation code SXXUA on the online form. This code can also be used on your Annual Fund pledge card and Faculty and Staff campaign pledge cards.
You contribution will help recognize the students for all of the important contributions they make to emergency medical services at Penn State and the community.
Special recognition for contributors:
While they last, contributors of $100 or more will receive a University
Ambulance Service coffee mug imprinted with the three uniform patch
logos that have been used by UAS and the Office of EMS over the
years. Compliments of Page Wolfberg & Wirth, Attorneys &
Counselors at Law.
