Icers Travel to Annapolis to Face Midshipmen

The Icers (8-1-0, 3-0-1 ESCHL) will look to continue the momentum from last weekend's sweep of West Virginia this weekend as they travel to Annapolis to face the Midshipmen in a two-game, ESCHL set. The Icers have dominated the Middies recently and currently hold a 22-game winning streak against them. Navy (4-9-1, 0-5-1 ESCHL) is coming off an near-upset of West Chester last weekend on Halloween night, but still came away with their first point in the ESCHL this season with the overtime-loss.
As was the case last season, the Icers started this season with some inconsistency in their play. We saw a glimmer of that changing last weekend as the Icers dominated play at home against the Mountaineers. In dealing with some major injuries, the Icers' depth has once again needed to be on display. The team will be without Captain Matt Kirstein, Taylor Cera, Dave Herel and Kurt Collins this weekend. However, the Icers have been getting production from across the board as 12 different players contributed to the Icers' 18 goals last weekend.
In what has been well documented in the past few seasons, the Midshipmen have no problems playing a full, 60-minute game. However being a service academy, Coach Mike Fox has limited resources in putting a highly-talented team on the ice. The discipline and work ethic of his players are a testament to the dedication they have and show that they are deserving of any opponent's respect.
