The Finals (updated: 04/17/2006)

The finals were played between Untitled.jpg and The Aristocrats. Having won the toss, the Aristocrats chose to bat with the intention of putting up a big total on the board and putting pressure on Untitled. They got off to a very good start (35/0 in 3 overs) with Ajay looking like he had saved the best for the finals. Parthu who had been the key bowler for Untitled struggled bowling short and giving away too many extras. The introduction of Arun (Pointy) and Charan into the bowling attack turned the match around and a couple of good tight overs saw Ajay throwing his wicket away trying to go for the big one. Aristocrats never recovered from that loss and good tight bowling saw the Untitled restrict Aristocrats to 71 in their 10 overs.

In reply Untitled's innings was a total opposite of their opponents. Great bowing by Ajay (best bowler in the tournament) and Manodeep meant Untitled could get only 13 for the loss of Parthu's wicket in the first 4 overs. Having seen the main bowlers depart, Charan then attacked the other bowlers and a flurry of boundaries saw that they could get to their total with plenty to spare. His crucial knock in the finals tipped the balance in winning him the best batsman trophy.

The SemiFinals (updated: 04/17/2006)

The first semifinals was played between Untitled.jpg and The Greatest Hits. Untitled won the toss and elected to bat. A great opening partnership of 66 between Parthu and Ashish saw the Untitled get to a score of 94 in their alloted 10 overs. Brandon was the pick of the bowlers with 29/3 in his 3 overs. In reply the Greatest Hits were never able to keep pace and kept losing wickets to be bundled out for 54. Arun Rajamani, a late addition to Untitled picked up 3 wickets.

The second semifinal was an absolute thriller between Kaka aur Ganta ki Rai and The Aristocrats. Batting first after having won the toss, The Aristocrats put up 82 on the board for the loss of 4 wickets in their 10 overs with contributions from Nishant, Saurabh and Rohan. Some good bowling by Kaka's team meant that the Aristocrats were never able to get the impetus going. In reply Kaka's team after losing a couple of quick wickets settled down through the pair of Rohan and Ankur. Rohan in particular was the catalyst and till he was there, the going looked easy. Loss of his wickets caused a collapse but Ankur held firm and the last man Arvindhan gave good support. Rohan bowled well to let Aristocrats defend their small total. With 14 needed of the final over and Manodeep (the best bowler from last year's torunament) to bowl, it looked set for the Aristocrats but good running between the wickets and pressure resulted in extras being conceded and Kaka needed 2 runs to win of the last ball with Arvindhan on strike. He played the ball to midwicket and a good throw by Ajay saw Nishant almost bungle up a chance of a runout but keep his senses and still manage to run Arvindhan out coming back for his second run resulting in the first tie in the history of the tournament. Because the Aristocrats had lost 3 fewer wickets than Kaka's, they won the tie and advanced to the semifinals. But this was one match to remember.
