Results - Semis and Finals (updated: 04/18/2005)

Chilli Peas win the first Annual Spring 8-a-side Cricket Tournament by defeating Fine Legs by 15 runs. Batting first Chilli Peas scored 100 runs for the loss of 3 wickets with a good openeing partnership once again between Rohan Kumar and Amit Mehta. A fine cameo by Ajay Srivatsavai ensured that the Chilli Peas got to the three digit figure of the last ball of their innings creating a psychological advantage on the Fine Legs. Fine Legs who had scores of 146, 140 and 117 in their previous matches gave a good chase but lost wickets at crucial moments in the game to get bundled out for 85 in the last over. Some good bowling by Manodeep Sinha in the last over led to the Chilli Peas becoming the first champions of the Spring 8-a-side cricket tournament.

The first semifinal was played between Out of Form and Fine Legs. Fine Legs defeated Out of Form by 5 wickets with a spectacular chase of 116 runs led by an unbroken partnership for the second wicket between Viren Patel and Kingsley Henry-Chow. It was an exciting match right down to the last over. Earlier Out of Form scored 116 runs led by some big hitting from their opening batsman Parthukishan.

In the second semifinals, Chilli Peas defeated Aly Baba and his 7 thieves by 4 wickets. Opening batsmen Rohan Kumar and Amit Mehta ensured that the Chilli Peas did not loose too many early wickets in their steady chase of 70 runs scored by Aly Baba's team. Angad Soni played a steady knock earlier during Aly Baba's innings but loss of wickets at regular intervals prevented them from stepping up the scoring rate in their alloted 10 overs.

The best batsmen and best bowler award went to Kingsley Henry-Chow(Fine Legs) and Manodeep Sinha(Chilli Peas) respectively. Kingsley dominated the bowlers throughout the tournament with knocks of 31*, 37*, 41* and 7. He was dismissed only once and that too in the final game against Chilli Peas. Manodeep bowled menacingly fast and took 8 wickets in his 4 matches. He troubled all bastmen with his accurate line and length and played a huge role in his team's winning the tournament.
