General Body Meeting Minutes [posted 03/24/05]

Ramesh Ravella, club President, opened the meeting with a welcome addresss and introduced the office bearers to a gathering of about 30 cricket lovers. The new members were asked to introduce themselves following which Ramesh briefly discussed the club activities for the past two and half years and gave the auidience season statistics for the last two seasons. He thanked the ex-committee for putting the club in order and bringing it to the level of competitiveness in the WMCB league. He then gave dais to the club treasurer, Rajaraman Ramanarayanan.

Rajaraman talked about the financial situation of the club. He discussed the financial difficulties that had arisen due to a change in the club status from being a student organization to being a member of the club sports organization. This resulted in the club losing it's opportunity to approach the University Park allocation committee (UPAC) for funds. He informed how the club was allocated $500 this year from club sports where the average allocation PSCC had been receiving from UPAC was $4000 for the past years. He then thanked current club members and alumni for the donations they have made and also the members who had been part of the fundraising activities(football). He discussed about club equipment that the club Secretary, Nishant Raizada, brought with him from India and how it helped in keeping down the expenditure. The ex-club treasurer, Gautam Wagle, at this point stressed on the importance of volunteering for fundraising activities, especially the football stadium clean up which required at least 20 people and would raise a good amount of funds.

Rajaram was followed by the club Vice-President, Rohan Samsi, who started out by outlining the practice schedule-3 times a week, between 5:30-8:30pm depending on the weather and the availability of the field. He described the level of commitment required of all members during practice sessions explaining what a normal nets session would be like. He informed everyone of the possibility of some league games(WMCB) being played at Penn State itself. He rounded up by stressing the importance of member participation to make all the club activities a success.

Nishant then took the dais and informed everyone about a soft-ball cricket tournament that the office bearers were planning on organizing in the second week of April. He discussed how the tournament would be a good platform for spreading cricket awareness in the Penn state community and how it would make a good starting point for the season that lay ahead. He floated an idea for forming a separate committee for the tournament and asked for volunteers for the same. He also recommended the new club members to inform the office bearers of their availability for the summer season.

The meeting was rounded up by Ramesh who described the club's position in regards to playing the WMCB league this season. He then thanked everyone for attending to the meeting and for their interest in cricket.
