Statement from CCSG President Peter Khoury and Vice President Justin Cortes:

CCSG is deeply saddened by the passing of Joe Paterno. Joe Paterno was more than a football coach to our university; he was an icon and true Penn State legend. The contributions he made to our university both in athletics and academia are unparalleled and we are eternally grateful. In his 46 years of service to the University he impacted the lives of hundreds of men in the Penn State football program, and thousands in the Penn State community. Today his wish of being remembered as more than just a "good football coach" has come true and our university is a better place because of him.

We now mourn his passing together as one university, and as one Penn State community. In solidarity we come together and wish to embody his mantra of success with honor, in all of our actions. Joe Paterno reminded us to "believe deep down in our hearts that we are destined to do great things" just as he did for our university and we must continue to do the same.

Our thoughts and prayers are not only with the Penn State community but with the Paterno family at this difficult time. We wish that the Paterno family find peace and comfort at this time.

Joe Paterno
