Welcome to Penn State ANS!

Hi everyone!

My name is Jeremy Barnhart, and I am the President of Penn State ANS for the 2015/2016 academic year. I wanted to take some time to introduce myself so we can get to know a little about me before out first meeting!

I am a rising senior in both Nuclear and Mechanical Engineering here at Penn State. I have been involved in ANS since my freshman year and it has given me many opportunities both academically and professionally throughout my experience. I am honored to be elected to be the President of this truly amazing organization. My fellow officers and I plan to make this year in ANS the most memorable yet, integrating fun activities to build bonds, along professional workshops and reactor tours to gain valuable experience to share with future employers.

Please feel free to contact me by clicking the contacts link if you have any questions! Also visit www.ans.org to become a national member and to read more of what we are all about! I cant wait to see all of you in the fall!

Stay Rad,

Jeremy Barnhart

Greetings from President
Hey everyone!

I just wanted to start out by saying thank you sooo much to everyone who came out last night! It was a great meeting, and I am thrilled to see all of you so eager to get involved. This year is going to be awesome :)

I just wanted to recap the important dates coming up:

September 9th : Resume Review Session, 7-9 PM in 162 Willard

September 15th : ANS Tailgate & Group Seating at Navy Game

September 28th-30th : ANS THON Canning Trip

September 29th : Parents Weekend (Reactor Tours).

If you guys could let me know which events you're planning on attending (the best answer is, of course, ALLLL!!!), that would be fantastic. We especially need to get an accurate headcount for the ANS Tailgate. Please also indicate if you would like to be in the ANS section for the game. Our social governor Ed will email you all the details on the tailgate and group seating early next week :)

I am still not sure how many people we need for the reactor tours, but if you are interested in helping out with this, please email me and let me know!

If you would like to go canning or play IM sports (flag football and volleyball) and didn't sign up at the meeting, you can also email me :) Everyone going canning : think about hosting, too! We are trying to find at least two hosts for the first trip, and would really appreciate it if your parents are willing to open their house to a bunch of crazy kids for a weekend!!

If you haven't paid your dues yet, you can do so tomorrow or next week. For the juniors and seniors, see me in Nuc E 301 or Alex Punzi, our treasurer, in Nuc E 403. Freshmen and sophomores, you can email me and we can set up at time to meet up!

Also keep your calendars clear for October 13th -- It has officially become ANS Day 2012. THON 5K in the morning, Westinghouse Science Honors Institute at the Reactor, and the HAYRIDE at night!! Sign up info for alll of this awesome stuff will be coming soon!

Again, thanks to everyone for coming out last night, and be on the lookout for more

emails over the next few weeks regarding specific events! If you have any questions/concerns/ideas about ANS, please contact me. I really want to make this a great year!

Have a great weekend, and GO STATE!
