Movin' On

Association of Residence Hall Students

Penn State University prides itself in its rich traditions: The Nittany Lion, JoePa, Beaver Stadium, the Blue Band, scholastic excellence, and, since 1974, a FREE TO EVERYONE spring music festival called Movin' On. As perhaps the largest student-run music festivals in the country, and a Penn State tradition now in its 36th year, Movin' On brings the top music of today, tomorrow, and yesterday together to the HUB lawn as a celebration of those graduating Nittany Lions "movin' on" in their academic and professional lives.

Since its inception in 1974 as the peaceful and loving "Gentle Thursday," Movin' On has remained true to its roots by providing a fun-filled day of diverse music, exciting events, and plenty of freebies donated by generous corporate and local sponsors, all in a substance-free environment and at no charge to Penn State students. Movin' On's rich history includes a wide variety of musical acts including Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Talib Kweli, Jewel, The Spill Canvas, Reel Big Fish, Ben Folds Five, American Hi-Fi, Our Lady Peace, Run DMC, Pete Yorn, Jimmy Eat World, Wilco, The White Tie Affair, Bowling for Soup, and many, many more.
